Basic description: Worldstriders are ancient mechanical walking fortresses, ranging in height from the smallest at approx. 30 ft tall and approx. 90 feet long, to the largest at an estimated 6000 ft tall and 18000 ft long. Worldstriders all had a roughly 3-1 ratio for length to height, but the width of these massive machines varied based on each individual machine.
Use: The worldstriders were used by the ancient badlands empire for almost every task involved in warfare, from carrying out large-scale assaults on enemy strongholds to transporting supplies to acting as mobile hospitals.
Propulsion method: Worldstriders almost always were powered by massive engines that provided heat as well as motion. the fuel for these engines as well as the type of engine varied based on the purpose the worldstrider was created for. movement for the worldstriders was accomplished through 4 to 10 legs evenly spaced along the length of the length of the worldstrider.
Misc: There are 9 legendary worldstriders that were lost, the wreckage of which could still exist today. "The Empire's Fortune" is considered the ultimate find for treasure seekers, because it was rumored to have contained the vast wealth of the empire, including twelve 70-pound blocks of esmaraldium, which would make up 99.99% of all esmaraldium thought to exist in all the universe. (side note: a chip of esmaraldium one inch in diameter amounts to the price of all other metals and gems combined.) the other eight legendary worldstriders are; "the trader's wing," a caravan transport lost in the sands of the desert, "the soldier's refuge," a hospital worldstrider abandoned because of the outbreak of an incurable disease, "the unholy guardian," a sentinel thought to have prevented a horde of mutated creatures from escaping the cave they were imprisoned in, "the rouge shadow," which ran stealth operations until it was abandoned during a failed mutiny attempt, "the iron legion," which acted as a carrier for warbots until a warbot went rouge and killed off most, if not all, of the crew and destroyed all other sentient mechanical objects on board, "the rebel's fate," a main battlestrider used to lay siege to various cities until it was abandoned underground due to heavy damage sustained during the siege of undercastle delta, "the emperor's pride," the second largest worldstrider ever made, which carried the empire's capital city on its back until it was abandoned during the decline of the empire, and finally, "the last stand," the last worldstrider ever made, which acted as the last stronghold of the empire when the opposing forces succeed in defeating the empire's massive "overlord" worldstrider. "the last stand" was last seen running into a matter vortex at full speed. it is thought to have gone down with all hands on deck.
