- magic is a genetic mutation that allows a species to manipulate the world around them however they choose.
- an individual's ability to use magic is limited by said individual's imagination and brain capacity. using magic elevates the user's stress levels upwards of 200%, with more stress for more complex or larger tasks.
- overuse of magic can cause "misting." misting is a crippling affect that alters an individual's ability to function mentally, because of it's affect both mentally and physically. the first stage of misting is a drop in a magic user's energy, usually to the point that the only thing holding the user on their feet is tension of the muscles caused by the use of magic. the second stage of misting is a decrease in the magic user's cognitive functions paired with blood or exiting the body through the nose, mouth, and ears. the third stage of misting is what this affect is named after. the third stage of misting is a severe decrease in the user's ability to give subconscious instructions leading to an extremely lowered heart rate, loss of reflexes, irregular diaphragm contractions, loss of vision control, and loss of balance. this is paired with blood rapidly exiting the user's body via the pores of said user's body. the resulting fluid spray envelops the user in a cloud of their own blood. if the magic user ceases the use of magic at this point, their body will go into a coma to both replace lost blood and reset the body's subconscious functions. the final stage of misting happens when the magic user continues to use magic despite having their blood spraying out of their pores. this stage of misting results in the complete shutdown of the body's nervous system paired with death via blood loss.
- magic users must learn how to control and regulate their power to avoid misting.
- approximately 20% of the population have magic. of that number, only .5% have can muster the mental power required to become an elemental or more.
